Winter Essential Oil Blend Product Profile

winter.jpg

Origins

Created originally for a customer to help bring warmth and relief from colds, coughs and other upper respiratory problems which threaten in the cooler months. Also a great motivator, Winter is very good at getting you moving when you'd rather hibernate. A light bulb moment and the realisation that this is the perfect blend for winter led to it becoming a permanent part of the Galaxy Aromatherapy range.

History

Developed in May 2014, this blend has a promising history of use for motivating, helping to prevent and soothe symptoms of colds, sore throats and coughs, and during Winter Solstice celebrations.

Ingredients

Lemon, East Cape manuka, lavender spike, eucalyptus blue gum, frankincense, red thyme, clove bud & ginger essential oils.

Texture

Liquid essential oil blend - not advised for use neat on the skin due to being a pure essential oil blend, but can be diluted into a moisturiser or vegetable oil for application to the skin.

Fragrance

A herbal, clearing, spicy aroma with a warmth that develops when the blend is warmed by application to the skin or use in a diffuser.

Use

Helps to motivate you when it's hard to get moving, and prevent and/or minimise the spread of bugs, for the treatment of coughs, colds, sore throats and to help bring warmth when needed. Dilute 5 drops into 10ml vegetable oil to use as a chest rub (try on a small area first, to be sure it won't cause irritation), add 3 drops to a bowl of hot water for a steam inhalation, or add 3 drops to a diffuser (for an average sized room).

Recommendations for storage

Best refrigerated, or as an alternative, somewhere which stays cool all the time (bathrooms and heated rooms aren’t suitable). Storing in cool temperatures helps to prevent early deterioration of the natural ingredients, which are prone to oxidation (reaction with oxygen, which leads to deterioration of the product).

Safety

Keep out of reach of children. Wash hands thoroughly with warm soapy water after handling and keep them away from the eyes. Do not use undiluted. If it comes into contact with the skin apply plain vegetable oil to dilute, then wash thoroughly with warm soapy water.
